KPK Expresses Appreciation to 5 Institutions Adopting Anti-Bribery Management

KPK Commissioner Firli Bahuri said that the five institutions had provided examples of high commitment in eradicating corruption, especially by implementing the anti-bribery management system in their respective ministries/institutions.
"Let's continue to do good although in order to be good, we have to walk a thorny path," said Firli, giving his appreciation.
Firli said that these good practices must be widely disseminated as part of our effort to understand and promote the implementation of corruption prevention actions by ministries/agencies/regional governments that have not applied them. The objective, said Firli, is to produce focused, measurable, and impactful work in both normal and new normal situations.
Firli also revealed cases that the KPK handled from 2004 to 2018 according to the type of corruption, 64 percent of which were bribery cases. In addition, based on the perpetrators’ profession or position, private individuals ranked second after members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
This data obviously has a very serious implication, but, according to BUMN Minister Erick Tohir, the BUMN Ministry has required all BUMNs to implement ISO 37001. He said that as of March 2020 there had been 82 BUMNs that had made preparations for the implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System. The current condition is that 55 BUMN are in the stage conducting a Training Awareness event, while the remaining 27 BUMNs had not even reached this stage.
"As of 14 August 2020, there have been 30 companies that have obtained ISO 37001 certificates. Our target is that, by the end of 2020, there will be at least 25% of all BUMNs in Indonesia that have obtained ISO 37001 certificates," said Erick.
Besides the BUMN Ministry, SKK Migas (state oil and gas institution) has also implemented an anti-bribery management system, provided that three companies had obtained SNI ISO 37001 certification during 2019.
Meanwhile, KADIN Indonesia (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce) expressed its seriousness in encouraging the business world to implement ISO 37001 by forming a special committee, namely KUPAS (Community of Entrepreneurs with Integrity). According to Kadin Indonesia, integrity is very much needed in all efforts to educate people and provide lessons about what must not or can be done by the business world.
In addition, there is also an oil and gas producer, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), which is in the process of obtaining ISO 37001 Certification. The company has formed a FKAP (Anti-Bribery Compliance Function) team on 31 July 2019. This team aims to strengthen PHM's commitment to ethics and compliance programs by adopting appropriate policies and procedures, conducting training programs, and maintaining good communication.
Not wanting to be left behind, the Financial Services Authority has encouraged 25 securities companies in the capital market sector, 5 companies in the banking sector, and 5 companies in the IKNB (non-bank financial industry) sector as pilot projects for implementing an anti-bribery management system. Through this trial process, OJK hopes that in the coming years, the ISO 37001 can be adopted by all business players in all sectors supervised by OJK.
